I love bringing new sculptures into the world, sharing their beauty and healing intention. My sculptures are a symbolic commentary on present times, very much like a journal entry. I am presently working with the theme and influence of light, both inner and outer light. “Reaching for the Light” is a series of carved seed and sprout forms, coming out of darkness and entering the light. As sculpture is a long lasting medium, I see my artwork as having a timeless dialog with future generations. My themes are universal and appeal to each individual. Many of my forms are models for public sculptures. They invite the viewer to take time from their busy lives to contemplate beauty, feel at peace with their world, and to dream possibilities. Since finishing my first stone carving in 1991, I have worked in most varieties of stone, and presently I’m working in basalt, granite, marble, and limestone. I love the direct carving approach where the material already contains the final form, only to be discovered in the sculpting process. This is a great metaphor for how I see the world and myself as well. The last two years, I have expanded my sculpting horizons through the complex lost wax casting method, making limited editions in bronze and kiln cast glass. Working in these materials brings my artwork to a new audience and expands my artistic pallet, adding structural strength, color, as well as inner light. Thank you for taking the time to connect with my artwork. I welcome your support.
