David Adams creates sculpture to engage, challenge and reward the viewer by combining forms, materials, colors and space to produce focal pieces or entire walk-through environments. His works possess a strong living quality and truly improve the spaces they occupy. People tend to congregate around these pieces, commenting on the energy and ongoing process of discovery they enjoy.

Mr. Adams’ pieces are frequently composed of multiple forms that interact to animate the given space. The polychrome, graduated finishes utilize a wide range of colors, resulting in vibrant, engaging works for exterior and interior staging. He works in aluminum, bronze, stone, stainless, Cor-ten and mild steels, in any scale.
David Adams grew up in northern New Mexico with interests and passions including hiking, fishing, sports, music, physics, chemistry, electronics, art and making things. These interests arose out of exposure to diverse cultures, nature, technology, and literature.

"Unlike photography which captures a single, three dimensional moment, and compresses it onto a flat image, I create forms by combining fragments of many such moments with elements of culture, nature, figure and spirit into a single image or form. These are randomly restructured experiences much like what we call memories, dreams, or stories," says David.

I like to blend various forms, materials textures and colors to create works that reflect my interests, experiences and vision. These works take both two and three-dimensional form. I also like to explore the interaction of plural forms and elements and the spaces between them. In recent works, I have been creating environments and elements thereof, in both small scale and life size. The latter allows me to include the viewer in the design, making them a part of the piece."
