Mario Badioli lives and works in Murano. He conceives and realizes his sculptures in a small studio, where his daughter assists him. His inspiration are the colors and forms of twentieth century art. Badioli's figures are somewhat "cubist". Various French painters such as Picasso, Magritte and Klee have influenced his work.

Badioli has perfected a particular method of applying color by "slapping" and "dripping" hot colored glass over clear. In the way he "paints" his pieces each one unique. This technique enables him to express himself in a more "painterly" way and to achieve individuality. Badioli's glass is purposely imprecise; he prefers rough over smooth, texture over slick surfaces, mottled color over precision. This seemingly casual hand is, in fact, the allure of his style
