Someone once wrote to me, "I think you paint the unguarded moment...the space between events...the thing that is left in tha air after the gypsies dance."

Wow, that is my goal to achieve that kind of drama.  Or, is it non-drama?

I like small scenes of people, places and quiet moments.  Whether I look to early drawings, co-ops or classes or last week’s travel sketchbook - the thread is there - connecting the figures and places and times.

I love that kind of juicy painting that is loose and alive with color.  I find subjects in coffee shops and restaurants where people maybe working or lost in thought.   Store fronts and back alleys, beaches and backyards, the main street or the empty room - I love that certain kind of light that catches an unguarded moment.
