"Having recently returned from six years in the tropics, enduring tropical storms, earthquakes, countless insects, and sunsets too beautiful to describe, it is time to get back into the studio.

"Back to copper, the earliest metal to be formed, fashioned, and used by man.  It was at the University of Oregon, working with Max Nixon, that I first became involved with copper.  Copper is the cold hard metal with a warm quality - the gentle play of light on its surface.  The abstract forms that evolve in the surface of the metal seem to come forth on their own accord.  While shapes and folds are somewhat predetermined, the metal moves as it wills.  The work has always had an organic quality to it, as something from underneath the surface of the earth should."
