ARTIST

For over 30 years, Robert Graves has sculpted the land. As a registered Landscape Architect and successful environmental planner in California, his responsibilities have encompassed all aspects of design.

Robert is recognized for his creative approach to design. He has received numerous awards for his work at the local, state and national levels, including the prestigious "Outstanding Contribution to a Better Environment" award, from the American Society of Landscape Architects.

During his career, Mr. Graves has been involved with the planning of numerous public spaces. He has been privileged to collaborate with world-renowned sculptors, incorporating large-scale art into his projects. Perhaps it is this ongoing involvement in molding the visual aspects of space that has led Robert to explore sculpting at a more intimate scale.

Inspiration for his work comes from the land and the sea. The organic forms represented within his sculptures reflect his fascination with the earth and its natural wonders. The fluid lines found within Robert's work represent his interpretation of - and fascination with - the variety of sea life he observed while pursuing an early interest in scuba diving.

Most recently, Mr. Graves' piece "Translucence" was the only sculpture to receive an award in the 1999 Artist's Showcase of Orange County. Submittals considered included over 400 mixed media works of art.
